The five XAIO plans, AI Tasks, top-ups, promo codes and student verification.
What are AI Tasks?
AI Tasks are the currency for AI-powered code generation. Each interaction with the AI agent costs a certain number of AI Tasks depending on the complexity of the request.
How AI Tasks are Calculated
The cost is based on the AI model used and the amount of input/output tokens:
- Simple tasks (text changes, colors, CSS) — uses a faster, cheaper model
- Complex tasks (multi-file features, APIs, debugging) — uses the most capable model with extended thinking
XAIO automatically routes your request to the best model — you don't need to choose manually. The percentage shown next to each interaction tells you how much you saved through smart routing.

Per-user pricing. Annual billing shows a discounted rate vs. the monthly price.
AI Task Top-Ups
Need more AI Tasks within a billing period? Buy add-on packs in Settings > Billing. Top-up tasks don't expire at month end — they roll over.
Promo Codes
Enter promo codes at checkout for discounts on plans and on AI Task add-ons. Validation happens before payment so invalid codes never reach Stripe.
Student & Pupil Verification
Verify your student or pupil status with your school / university email and get 50% off any plan. If your school isn't recognised automatically, upload a photo of your student ID for manual review.
Friend-Invite Rewards
Invite a friend with your unique link. They get +25 AI Tasks when they sign up, and you get +25 AI Tasks when they ship their first build. Up to +500 AI Tasks total (10 friends).
Checking Your Balance
The sidebar shows your remaining AI Tasks and the cost of the current project. When you run low (≤ 5 tasks) the chat input shows an inline warning with an Upgrade link.
Upgrading Your Plan
Go to Settings > Billing to upgrade. Your new plan is activated immediately. Remaining AI Tasks from the previous billing period carry over.
Project Type Gating
- Website projects work on every plan (including Free)
- Web App projects need Web App Builder or Platform Builder
- Agent Flow and Skills need Platform Builder
You can convert a Website to a Web App in Project Settings as long as your current plan allows it.
